Welcome

The Friends of the Highgate Bowl is a registered charity (No 1159328) set up with the purpose of acquiring and preserving the remaining open land in the historic Highgate Bowl in the ancient village of Highgate in London.

The land – which has regularly been threatened with development over the past half century – has always been used for agriculture and horticulture. It is perhaps the last remaining example of the grazing land used by drovers as they brought their flocks into London.

In 2014 a planning inspector described it as a historic area and stressed the importance of its heritage as a setting for the village.
